Holiday Festivities, Deep Discounts Invite Skiers and Riders to make Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort Part of Their Annual Tradition

As the 2008-09 winter season gets underway, Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort is gearing up to kick off a plethora of events and activities, lift ticket and lodging deals that will make it easy for guests to stay and play at Northstar Resort this holiday season.

An annual tradition, the Village at Northstar’s Noel Nights feature holiday fun for the whole family. Hosted on Thursday nights, December 4, 11 and 18 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., activities include roasting smores, holiday ornament decorating, specially decorated holiday trees, one horse sleigh rides, shopping specials, photos with Santa, holiday carolers, and more. Complimentary ice skate rentals will be offered with the donation of a non-perishable food item.

Each Noel Night will also feature a special activity, the first being the tree lighting of the resort’s 35-foot holiday tree at 6:30 p.m. on December 4, the following week featuring an amateur skating performance and on the final Noel Night, an ice sculpture carving demonstration.

And, leading up to the Christmas holiday, Santa Claus will be making appearances in different stores throughout the Village at Northstar December 20-24 between 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to hear holiday wishes! Other holiday festivities will include a non-denominational candlelight service at 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve in the Northstar Resort conference rooms on the lower level of the Village at Northstar. The service will end in candlelight and will include hot chocolate, coffee and cookies.

Guests are invited to ring in the New Year with Northstar Resort at the annual Fire & Ice New Year’s party, open to all ages. There will be live music and entertainment, fireworks, skating, food, drinks and other fun! Live music and entertainment will be offered from 2 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., including fire dancing performances. The fireworks display will begin at 9 p.m.

This year, why not give the gift of a day on the slopes! With Northstar Resort’s new Six-Pack lift ticket, your favorite skier or snowboarder can be on the mountain for less than $50 per day. A great stocking stuffer idea, the Six-Pack is valid any six days of the season but must be purchased by December 15, 2008.

Northstar Resort gift cards are another option and make the perfect gift. Available in denominations ranging from $25 to $500, Northstar Resort gift cards can be used to purchase a variety of items year-round at all Booth Creek Resorts, including Minors’ Camp Daycare, lodging (restrictions apply), food and beverage items, ski and snowboard lessons, retail shopping in the Village at Northstar, and more. And, be sure to keep your receipts from purchases made in the Village at Northstar between November 1 and December 24, 2008. When the total reaches $500, bring them to the Season Pass & Tickets office to redeem your reward! Just getting into winter sports? Northstar Resort is offering first-timers the opportunity to learn to ski or ride for just $25 this December. Valid Monday through Friday from opening day through December 19, 2008, first-timers ages 13+ will receive a lesson, lift ticket accessing beginner terrain and rental equipment for just $25. This package can be pre-purchased online at or on-site at the Village Rental Shop.


Traveling around the holidays can be stressful. Here are a few tips to alleviate stress and allow for a fun day on the slopes at Northstar Resort.

1. Take advantage of lift ticket deals including Six-Packs, multi-day lift tickets and Double Whammy season pass offerings.
2. Arrive at the ski and board rental shop early.
3. Make reservations for lessons and child care in advance online or via phone.
4. Ski or ride Home Run or The Woods ski trails back down to the Village at Northstar at the end of the day.
5. Take advantage of Northstar Resort’s on-site shuttle service or ride a complimentary off-site shuttle to the resort from Reno, North Lake Tahoe or Truckee.
