SACRAMENTO, CA- Mikuni Charitable Foundation will host the 17th Annual Mikuni Summer Golf Classic on Saturday, August 18th at Catta Verdera Golf Club in Lincoln.
This year’s golf tournament will introduce two new beneficiaries including Chevo’s Fund which was founded by Wells Fargo philanthropist Chevo Ramirez with the goal of raising one million dollars for Parkinson’s research, education and awareness. Approximately 50,000 new cases of Parkinson’s are diagnosed each year in the United States joining the 3.6 million Americans who have already been diagnosed.
The Mikuni Charitable Foundation will also support Courage To Be You, an organization committed to providing shelter and care for more than 250 local girls, some as young as eleven, rescued in the Sacramento area from sex trafficking. Courage To Be You provides these young girls with a safe place to begin the journey of restoration, transformation and healing. Courage To Be You also offers Courage Conferences and Courage Coaching and Programs designed to help victims see their value and discover their purpose.
Mikuni Charitable Foundation has donated over 1.1 million dollars to various charities including Sutter Cancer Center’s Breast Cancer Navigator Program, Davis Phinney Foundation for people living with Parkinson’s, and Closing the Gap for educational achievement. In addition, Mikuni donates in-kind to charitable organizations at their annual fundraisers. The most recent event raised $50,000 for Wind Youth Services which provides shelter for homeless youth.
“We consider it a privilege to work with organizations who do amazing work for people struggling with a health issue or lack of education,” says Taro Arai, co-owner of Mikuni Restaurant Group, Inc. “I know first-hand the challenges that can present themselves and how support coming from a stranger can make a life-changing difference.”
