ROSEVILLE- More than 20 local community leaders will put on their chefs’ aprons and go head-to-head in a special chili cook-off to benefit two organizations that serve Placer County youth.
The 2012 Roseville Celebrity Chili Cook-Off will be held on Friday, March 16, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Maidu Community Center.
The chefs will include local elected officials, education, business and government leaders and even a professional– the Mikuni founder Taro Arai. Proceeds will benefit Campus Life and the Coalition for Placer Youth.
About 350 people are expected to attend and organizers are continuing to recruit sponsors for the event.
“We are gratified by the support from the community,” said Rob Maxey, director of Campus Life programs, which offer teens an opportunity to grow in the areas of character, confidence, responsibility and faith. “Our celebrity chefs are stepping up to compete for the best chili, but more than anything want to be a part of helping these programs that serve youth in our community.”
“This already has been a great opportunity to bring the community together to support our programs and build awareness,” said Shari Crow, Coordinator for the Coalition for Placer Youth. “We are looking forward to a great event.”
