I tried an outstanding new appetizer at Mikuni Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar recently – called Tako Ceviche, the simple dish is composed of thinly sliced octopus doused in a lively, citrusy ponzu sauce and covered with chopped cilantro, tomatoes and white onions. A mound of tiny black tobiko (fish roe) is plopped on top to create a stunning plate presentation. Chewy and textural, with a refreshing pop from the ponzu sauce, the dish was one of the best I’ve tried at Mikuni lately.
